Haircuts

Monday evening we went over to The Swift household for haircuts. Our friend, Tasha, was daring enough to give Delani her very first haircut. We had to distract her with graham crackers but she did pretty good. I really just wanted to get rid of the 'baby' hair that was so long and straggly in the back.

You talkin' to me?

She doesn't look to impressed, does she?

More please!

Ellery had to have hers cut too! We just trimmed hers a little bit and put a few layers in it.

She looks scared for some reason

After haircuts, we ate dinner and had birthday cake. It was 'Uncle Johnny's' b-day!

Little Miss Delani learned how to conquer the stairs. She was trying to keep up with the big girls! Glad we don't have any at our house!!!

On Friday, we go for Delani's 9 month check up. I am anxious to see how much she weighs because this kid can't put away some food!! She eats more than Ellery does! Last weekend she had a 1/2 can of spaghettio's (I put them thru the grinder) with sweet potatoes. At another sitting she ate a whole bowl of macaroni & cheese (also thru the grinder) with carrots. She is going to surpass her big sister in no time at the rate she is going. She is also starting to cruise along the furniture and is standing alone for longer periods of time. She has this little cart that she walks around with and she thinks she is so cool. She has been giving us problems with sleeping though. This girl just wants to play, play, play-no sleep! I am up for any suggestions at this point on how to get a full night of rest!

Ellery has been saying some funny things lately. The other day I told her that I had to go back to work tomorrow and she said, "You need to quit that crap!" I asked her, "What crap?" She said, "That working crap!" I have no idea where she gets these words from?!? Monday at Erin's she was swinging her baby upside down, over her arms and said "Look Aunt Bill, my baby has a hang over!" She of course did not know what a 'hang over' was which made it even more cute! Ellery is going thru this stage that if we tell her no, she goes to her room, slams the door and says "don't talk to me!" My thoughts are, "ALREADY? What's it going to be like when she is a teenager?!?"

I will update again after Delani's appointment on Friday!

Weekend

After I picked the girls up from daycare, we ran home, picked up Dad and went to the park. We got to the park and Ellery and Dad played on the slides while Delani and I played on the swings. Delani loves the swings...I of course forgot my camera :( Ellery decided that she had to go potty...well the bathrooms were not open at the park yet so she had her first 'squatting' experience. Luckily there were no other kids at this part of the park!! Then we walked on the trails and found lots of pine cones. Saturday was a wet rainy day so we did a project with those pine cones. We put peanut butter on them and then rolled them in bird seed. We are waiting for it to warm up some more so the birds can have a nice snack!

Of course, we had to do this while Delani was sleeping because she would have just eaten the bird seed and made a huge mess of it all! On Sunday, Ellery and Dad went over to G-ma & G-pa Coopers. Mom & Delani stayed home and took a nap! :)

Delani does NOT like to get dressed!

Who knew an old shoe box could be so much fun? Delani was laying on top of the box and Dad was pushing her around the living room. She was laughing hysterically!

Can you tell she likes to eat? She would eat an entire box of graham crackers if I would let her!

Sickness

We have had a long couple days! On Saturday night Delani started running a temp. I gave her some Tylenol and didn't really think much of it. By Sunday, her temp was up to 102 and she slept a lot that day. My Mom works for SH urgent care, so I had her talk to the Dr and he said to just keep watching her since she was eating okay. By Monday morning, her temp was up to 103 and she was not doing much of anything. She wouldn't even crack a smile, which is NOT like Delani at all. I called the Dr and we got right in. The nurse took her temp twice just to make sure the reading was right because it was so high. The Dr came in and checked her over. She said that her throat looked a little red so they ran a strep test. That came back negative. They then checked her breating and that was fine. Then they decided they were going to check for a UTI. I thought they were going to tell me they wanted to cath her but they didnt. They put this thing on her that is called a 'puck'. It was pretty much like a bag super glued to her little bottom. We went home and waited for her to pee. Just my luck...the bag leaked. I tried holding her up right until she peed again, no luck. I tried sitting on the floor with my legs bent with the little pee cup between my legs and sat Delani on my lap, no luck. I ended up calling the Dr back & they wanted me to bring her BACK in to get another one put on. This time they gave me an extra one in case it leaked again. We left again and just waited until she peed. When we finally peed, I tried putting her in the sink with warm water to loosen up the 'super glue' from the bag. She wanted no part of that. She did not want me to put her down at all. I told my Mom to just tear it off because I couldn't do it! Luckily, my Mom was off work that day and was able to help me out with the girls. I didn't want to bring Ellery to daycare and get all the other kids sick. Anyways, I took the pee back to the Dr. This time I left Delani with my Mom and brought Ellery with me. It took them almost an hour just to run the test. After sitting in the waiting room forever, the Dr came out and said that it was also negative so they thought it was just something viral. They told me to keep giving her Tylenol. I told them that I had been giving her Tylenol and it had not been working. They said to try Ibuprofen. So by the time I got home from the Dr office it was 6ish. I gave Delani some more medicine and by 7:30 her temp had started going down. By 8:30ish she was down playing and was her happy little self again. Thank God! By the way, Delani weighed 17#13oz, what a little chunker!! The girls went to G-ma GG's on Tuesday because I couldn't send them to daycare yet. They are finally back to daycare today but now I'm sick! I don't know if I have what Delani had or not-she never threw up & I feel like I could lose it anytime. I also have a bad head ache! Hopefully Ellery and Andy care able to stay healthy and not come down with whatever this junk is!!

Ellery is not liking all the attention that Delani has been getting being sick. She is SO jealous! It's like the first day I brought Delani home all over again. She is so extremely whiny & in Delani's face! If I say it's black, she says it's white. I love the girl to death but she is really testing our patience lately!!
